Var log cron not updating

Does anyone has any idea what's wrong with my syslogd?

Thanks, Istvan logrotate might have recently run and moved your messages to messages.1 and then created the new but currently still empty "messages" file.

He deleted the "*" form the beginning of the following line: .info;mail.none;authpriv.none;/var/log/messages Thanks for the reactions about this topic. After i do this, it is found that logrotation for /var/log/cron is not happening.

Moreover the logrotation for other files which used to work earlier before adding this piece of code also does not work.

/sbin/rsyslogd -c 4 [ PM]root [log]# chkconfig --list |grep log rsyslog 0:off 1:off 2:on 3:on 4:on 5:on 6:off Also check for this in /etc/*.info;mail.none;authpriv.none;/var/log/messages Hi All, @giulix : I was tried it some days ago, but did not solved my problem.

@marko : logrotate works perfectly, but the moved files are also empty.

[[email protected]]# cat /etc/# Log all kernel messages to the console. #kern.* /dev/console # Log anything (except mail) of level info or higher. *.info;mail.none;authpriv.none;cron.none:local2/var/log/messages # The authpriv file has restricted access. So i think if i make it look at different includes it would work.Hello All, I have a big problem : I have FC12 and my /var/log/messages is empty and I don't know why.Did you check the path for the file is correct, and the file really exists?also, check if the file has read/exec permissions for cron owner.
